This course provides training in digital and technological literacy, offering opportunities to gain knowledge and capacity to use technological tools for job searching and navigation. You will learn basic computer skills and IT security, along with legal aspects of working in Malta.

Description
IT Literacy Skills for Job Compliance Training will provide the students with training in digital and technological literacy. The course objective consists of three elements:
1. offering the students opportunities to gain knowledge, the capacity to take advantage of technological tools, and devices to navigate the job market;
2. gaining basic knowledge and understanding of computers due to increasing employer demands for computer fluency;
3. to gain knowledge about the requirements and procedures needed to work legally in Malta.
Award in IT Literacy Skills for Job Compliance will be providing the students with vital IT and internet navigation skills as tools to offer them a more competitive advantage when looking for jobs, vocational opportunities, and networking with colleagues to create a more diverse list of professional contacts. . Additionally, learning the principal channels exploited today for job recruitment (social networks, online job portals….etc ).
The course will consist of a series of classes providing the students with knowledge on computer essentials, the basics of word processing technology, and bolster their confidence using computers. This includes but isn’t limited to modifying and printing documents …etc, learning Computer Essential covering the most crucial parts of the computer. IT security will cover how to better secure online information by preventing viruses and malware infections. Legal Aspects of Working in Malta will also be covered, teaching students the logistics of working legally in Malta, highlighting Information about governmental employment services, how to access the labour market, write a CV, and general information about doing business or how to become legally self-employed in Malta.

Learning Outcomes:
a) Understand major computer system components and functions and their uses
b) Understand the importance of the Internet and its uses, especially when applying it to obtaining employment
c) Learn about online job search portals and how to navigate them
d) Identify possible red flags for scam job postings
e) Search online databases and comparing job offers in order to apply for the most suitable ones according to the student’s ambitions and experience
f) Capacity to understand and use word processing softwares and their different applications
g) Understand the recruiting process e.g. to develop a CV, to write a cover letter, filling in job applications, produce official documents, etc.
h) Create basic spreadsheets
i) Gain awareness on IT security issues
j) Understand job compliance procedures and requirements
k) identify and avoiding job offers which do not meet the job compliance requirements
l) Understand the benefit of working legally in Malta, and the legal consequences of working illegally.
a) Startup and shut down a computer/laptop
b) Operate computers /laptops by using the icons
c) Organise files in different folders both for personal and work purposes
d) Create a document with word processing, software
e) Edit small-sized documents ready to be distributed
f) Prepare and develop a CV or a cover letter
g) Converting documents created through Word Processing into different formats such as PDFs
h) Editing and printing documents
i) Create and set up a basic database through basic formatting options
j) Search and find wanted information on the Internet
k) Create, send, and receive emails
l) Protect devices and datas from malware infections
m) Share documents with third parties through file sharing programs
n) Navigate the job market through online portals available in the Maltese islands
o) Indicate the importance of working legally in Malta and act according to the national provisions for job compliance.
Requirements
- B1 level of English
- legal status as a refugee, female asylum seeker, or migrant woman in Malta
- Applicants without a current occupation will be prioritised.
- There is no specific educational requirement.
